Utah Fall Color Photography Contest Winners

Photograph by Harold Sampson - First place for Sept. 18 Workshop
Participants submitted their five best photographs to this Blog for a chance to win $100 (given to three first place winners). We received an abundance of beautiful shots, so the selections were hard to make. We feel that these nine shots best represent the beauty of the Ogden Valley area. Click here for the winners.

Third Workshop

Another beautiful day in Ogden Valley. The aspens were great color up around Powder Mountain. Thank you all who put this workshop series on, I have learned a lot from this series. I would do another one.

Ogden Valley Fall Colors

Had a great time again this weekend. Although I had to leave early to shoot the Weber State University football game, I was able to meet some great people and hopefully answer a few questions.

Fall Colors Workshop - Day 3

Wow, what a great location to go to for the final day of the workshops! Powder Mountain was in full color, and it was great to go there. I don't think many people get to see certain parts of Ogden Valley, like Powder Mountain or Snowbasin, during seasons other than winter. So thanks again to those who organized the workshops!

I was only able to stay for half of the workshop, so my images were all taken on the West slope. I ventured off the path a bit, and I'm sure glad I did because I found the perfect canopy of aspens above me, which you can see in the first image.

Another beautiful day in Ogden Valley!

It was another beautiful day for the Fall Photo Workshop, this time at Powder Mountain. Thanks to all the wonderful people that donated their time to make this a success. I'd love to participate in something like this again next year.

Fun Around Ogden Valley

Wow! What a glorious morning on Powder Mountain! I wish I was fast enough to catch the moose on the way up but my camera was in the back of the car. Congratulations to those who were ready for the shot. The aspens are in full color and are magnificent to see.
This really shows the quaking aspen leaves up close and moving. It was fun trying new ideas - thanks Ogden Camera Club mentors for teaching us new (at least to us) techniques.

Powder Mountain is full of natural beauty and we hated to leave.

After our morning up Powder Mountain, several of us took a little hike on Wheeler Creek Trail. The trail starts out on an old road turned rocky ground but even I could make it up part way and Im glad I did. What a beautiful place!

My favorite photo of the stream that runs through Wheeler Creek. Thanks again Ogden Valley Business Association and Ogden Camera Club!

Sunday Drive Through Ogden Valley

A Warm Fall Day in Ogden Valley

The final day of the Fall Color Photography Workshops yielded warm temps and warm yellow aspens. Special thanks to the Ogden Valley Business Association for creating such a popular event. And an extra special thanks to my friends and mentors from the Ogden Camera Club for sharing your knowledge and love of photography. I'm looking forward to seeing many new club members in our next meeting on October 14th.

Breathtaking fall foliage.

Another great day with the OVBA and Ogden Camera Club. The weather could not have been better and the variety of sceanery was spectacular.
The aspen groves are turning. (We still have the Cottonwoods to look forward to.)

And the stream down Powder Mountain is still fresh, even this late in the year.

I thought this little bunch of English Daisys looked

like it was ready for a vase.
Thanks to everyone concerned for the experience and the tips!
