Sunflowers - One of Fall's First Color Displays

Sunflowers blooming along the road are my first sign that the trees are getting ready to turn. I took this quick shot as I was driving up Powder Mountain Road. I just love the yellow wildflowers and hope some of my fellow leaf peepers can offer a better photo.

Has anyone else heard that the height of Sunflowers are an indication of how deep the snow will be during the winter? I am in search of tall, tall Sunflowers. Have you seen any?
